Make sure not to place the cleaner tablet in the detergent slot. It is meant to be placed directly in the tub, regardless of the washer type you have.
If you run a Self-Clean cycle (or a heaviest, hottest cycle for a washer without the Self-Clean mode), the cleaner dissolves completely and does its job. I find it much better than a cup of vinegar or baking soda. And I love the convenience of simply tossing a pre-measured tablet in the tub.
