Anchor Hocking Glass Mixing Bowls

I had stainless steel mixing bowls for as long as I can remember. I always preferred stainless steel mixing bowls because they’re lightweight, easy to clean and so durable. I have the same stainless steel mixing bowls I got almost a decade ago, and they still look brand new. Honestly, the only downside I can think of for stainless steel mixing bowls is hmm… that they are not microwavable? Anyway, my love for stainless steel mixing bowls still stands even if I got these glass mixing bowls as a gift. But this review is for these glass mixing bowls from Anchor Hocking.

I received a set of these glass mixing bowls from a friend, and I love how clear and transparent these bowls are. It is definitely something that my stainless steel bowls did not provide!

My biggest concern with glass mixing bowls was their durability. I am not gentle with my cookware, so I was wondering how these bowls would hold up. Surprisingly, they are quite hard to break!

Check out my homemade guac!

These bowls are made by Anchor Hocking Company, a popular glass company most well-known for its glass cookie jars. They wash incredibly well in the dishwasher and withstand vigorous whisking like a champ.

Compared to stainless steel mixing bowls, they are HEAVY. Yes, even the smallest bowl is significantly heavier than my stainless steel bowl, which is a bit disappointing. These glass mixing bowls, however, are great serve ware. As practical and efficient stainless steel bowls are, they are definitely not presentable, in my opinion. They feel heavily industrial and feel like they belong in the prep kitchen, not a dinner table.

These glass mixing bowls, however, are wonderful serve ware, especially for salads. I can wash salad veggies in one of these bowls, add toppings and dressing, and I can take it straight to the dinner table, still looking presentable. I actually don’t have a salad bowl for entertaining a large crowd, so these bowls will come in handy for sure.
