I’ve been looking for the “perfect” coasters for my dining room for some time now. I bought a black-stained wooden table for a black & white theme, and I mainly wanted table settings with striking contrast. There are so many black & white table accessories that it was daunting even, but I went with a set of Chilewich’s Hex Coasters, and I’m super happy with my new coasters.

I LOVED the look of marble coasters, but I couldn’t justify getting them because I wanted my coasters to catch drips, instead of collecting puddles. Any stone-like coasters are purely for the looks, in my opinion, so I narrowed my choices down to felt or cork.

These coasters are made of Chilewich’s Pickstitch and Strike weaves that render a bold and playful look thanks to their black and limestone contrast. The patterns and color schemes were exactly what I was looking for.

And I highly recommend them for any black & white themes. They work in any modern to contemporary themes, so I’m thinking about getting a few sets for gifts as well.

You can use these coasters both indoors and outdoors; however, I wouldn’t recommend leaving them outside for too long. Although Chilewich textiles are built to withstand damp conditions, you shouldn’t let the coasters be drenched because they have felt-backing that absorbs and traps moisture. And the coasters are not to be washed in a washing machine or a dishwasher. To clean them, simply wipe them with a damp cloth or sponge.

I love the hexagonal shape – it gives any table setting a fun geometrical twist.

Unlike marble-top coasters, the Chilewich fabric absorbs the condensation on my icy drinks, significantly reducing the drips every time I lift my cup. Most flat-surfaced coasters collect puddles of water, so I can confidently say that these Hex coasters are certainly doing their job.

The set includes 4 coasters – 2 in black and 2 in limestone. All 4 coasters have slightly varying patterns.
