These lamps are awesome. I saw the Marina lamp on the Crate and Barrel catalog a couple of seasons ago and thought, that’s a cool-looking lamp. I liked the sleek and minimalistic look and the simple white color. The interest didn’t lead to a purchase, at the time, though.

And last month, I casually went into a Crate and Barrel store and came home with a brand-new Marina Frosted Glass lamp.

The picture does not do this lamp justice. It is so pretty in person. The opaque, frosted glass is all there is to it, but it is a work of art. When the lamp is off, it looks like a tall, modern vase or decorative object. And when the lamp turns on, the light gets reflected through the frosted glass, giving the space ample yet diffused light.

The bulb is screwed on the base of the lamp, and the light gets directed upward. The lamp does not have a shade on top of the glass; however, the top part rarely gets on my eye level, so it’s not an issue for me.

The lamp features a dimmer switch, which is always a plus. It doesn’t flicker or make a noise when the lamp is on dimmer.

This minimalistic lamp makes such a statement and has a contemporary appeal. It’s almost sculptural. It is by far my favorite table lamp of all time.
