These are my new favorite coffee snacks. I always crave something sweet in the afternoon, and this has been a perfect touch of sweetness. I found Stroopwafels at a local grocery store, and I decided to give them a try. Excuse the beat-up box for the Honey flavored Stroopwafels – it got kicked around inside the grocery bag!

A box of Stroopwafels contains 8 waffles. I’m sure it comes in other flavors, but my local store only had 2 flavors – Honey and Chocolate Caramel. If you love chocolate-flavored anything, you’ll love these Chocolate Caramel Stroopwafels. Personally, I find them to be too sweet, so I prefer Honey. It packs an ideal balance of caramel and toasted waffle.

These waffles are manufactured by Daelmans Banket B.V. in Holland. The official distributor in the United States is Brand Passport Inc. in New York.

The best way to enjoy these waffles is by placing one on top of the hot coffee mug. The steam from hot coffee slightly melts the caramel inside, so it becomes perfectly gooey. And the steam makes the waffle perfectly soft and warm, without the help of a waffle maker or a stovetop.

Warming a waffle on top of a steaming hot cup of coffee is the traditional way of enjoying a Stroopwafel in Holland, and these Stroopwafels do just that.

If you’re craving some soft waffles filled with sweet and creamy caramel, try Daelmans’ Stroopwafels. You’ll love them. Packaged in quaint, hexagonal cardboard boxes, these Stroopwafels make great gifts, too (just make sure to bag them separately to avoid damage like I did, bhaha!).
