Brie cheese is one of my favorite cheese varieties.
Who can resist this delicate flavor?
Président and Dietz & Watson make great Brie cheese.
This time I bought Dietz & Watson’s Brie cheese.

The taste description is quite accurate:
“Rich, creamy with earthy mushroom flavors”

The creamy center balances out the outer rind’s strong ammonia smell.

Many people wonder if the cheese’s rind is consumable.
Rinds are the outside layer that cheese has that naturally occurs during the cheesemaking process.

Brie cheese has a white, slightly hard rind.
It has a rather thick texture and quite a noticeable smell. So can you eat it?
It is completely up to you, and it really comes down to your preference.
Without the rind, the taste of Brie cheese becomes very approachable since its soft and tender center has a mild, creamy taste.

The cheese needs to be refrigerated to prolong its freshness.
I take it out from the fridge about an hour before serving so I can really enjoy the creamy texture and rich flavor. I find the cheese right out of the fridge to be lacking in flavor.

You can pair it with fruits or enjoy it with plain water crackers so they don’t distract from Brie cheese’s distinctive flavor.
