Diptyque has been my go-to fragrance brand ever since I discovered it.

I love not only their perfumes but also various home fragrances that are sophisticated and elegant. They never give me a headache and do not feel tacky or artificial.

My very first Diptyque scented candle was Baies, a widely-liked scent that many try as their first Diptyque experience. This time I tried 2 new fragrances – Violette and Oyedo.

The salesperson wrapped each candle in the beautiful colored paper that represents the fragrance notes. Because each candle has different fragrance notes, it is wrapped in different colored wrapping paper.

The Violette was wrapped in purple, lilac, and sky-blue paper, and the Oyedo was in yellow, black, and light green. I thought the colors matched the scent descriptions very well. The Oyedo's citrusy, and the Violette has strong violet and iris notes.

Although these candles were for me, it felt like a special treat to get them gift-wrapped in papers that represent the fragrance notes.

I bought the standard 190g scented candle that burns for up to 60 hours. The candles come in a smaller, mini-size, or in larger jars; however, not all scents are offered in those sizes.

Diptyque describes the Violette as a rich harmony of violet, Virginia cedar, and iris.

I was drawn to the scent because it wasn’t a typical, everyday fragrance that you find from scented candles. Very dreamy and mesmerizing.

The Oyedo notes are described as a take on Japanese citrus fruits with hints of thyme on ocean shores. Its refreshing citrus scent reminded me of lazy days in early summer. I really liked this fresh, light scent, and I bought it so I could use it on the days I clean my house.

Ever since I discovered Diptyque, I parted with Yankee Candle and Bath and Body Works. Yes, Diptyque candles are pricier, but are well worth it.
