I’ve been generally happy with my new (it’s been 2 years since I replaced my dishwasher, so I’ll say it’s relatively new for a dishwasher) Kitchenaid dishwasher. It’s quiet, the stainless steel front looks sleek, and cleans my dishes effectively. Everything was going swimmingly until the dishwasher track decided to fall apart. At first, I thought it wasn’t that big of a deal because I could simply push the pin back in, and fixing the rail was easy. However, the plastic pieces began to deteriorate, and no matter how securely I push them in, they no longer stayed in place. Apparently, these plastic pieces are notoriously known for continuous malfunction, and I wasn’t going to spend $15 to replace overpriced, faulty parts that are bound to fall off again. One of the reviewers of the original Kitchenaid plastic parts mentioned replacing the pins with metal ones, and I found these dishwasher track parts on Amazon. Thank God!

These parts are specifically for the bottom rack, and I had to replace all 4 tracks. Replacing them is straightforward and does not require any tools.

Make sure to check your dishwasher model number because some parts may not be compatible.

The metal pins that hold the wheels together are securely screwed in, compared to the plastic ones that have a push-in mechanism.
As frustrating as these plastic pieces were, I’m glad that I’ve found a more permanent solution. Honestly, I believe KitchenAid shouldn’t be using these cheap pieces, especially considering they’re now upping their prices. Hopefully, these new metal pins last a lot longer than 2 years. We buy appliances thinking that they’d last at least a decade. Don’t waste your money on replacement parts with plastic pins. Metal ones are much better and more durable.
