I know there are many yogurt makers out there with new brands popping out every day, but this Greek yogurt deserves a shout-out.
Based in Seattle, WA, Ellenos is a family-owned yogurt shop offering classic handcrafted Greek yogurt.
I’m usually not a Greek yogurt person, but I fell in love with Ellenos’ rich and creamy yogurt. It’s not as sour as other Greek yogurts that I’ve tried (which I was not a fan of!), and even the unsweetened variety is so delicious.
You can find other fruit-based flavors, as well. All Ellenos yogurt flavors have its Greek plain yogurt as the base, so you’re not missing out on probiotic benefits.
My favorite flavor variety is Mango.
First off, the pop of yellow looks appetizing, and I love mango-flavored anything. So granted, I knew I was going to love this. The mango fruit jelly is mixed in with Ellenos’ signature Greek yogurt, and every bite is like walking on sunshine. Yummmmm!
Because of the mango-flavored syrup, it has higher sugar and fat contents than the plain unsweetened. It is, however, a much better alternative to ice cream or other dairy snacks that are rich in calories and fat.
Because it’s not sweetened, don’t expect it to taste like Yoplait. But it has that nutty milk flavor that goes amazingly well with any fruit or nut toppings. I personally love making a blueberry parfait with a drizzle of honey and some almonds with Ellenos’ unsweetened plain Greek yogurt. The plain yogurt really brings out the blueberry flavors and a drizzle of honey elevates my taste bud. What a healthy and delicious snack!
