We all know how beneficial plain Greek yogurt is. It’s your gut’s best friend. I’ve been trying to eat healthier and Greek yogurt has consistently been on my grocery list. As much as I love yogurt, I have not been a huge fan of Greek yogurt because I just couldn’t get passed the sour taste. I experimented with different brands, and some were downright terrible. The weirdly thick consistency and strong sour flavor were hard to work with, even with a splash of honey. But after months of taste experiments, I may have finally found my Greek yogurt.

Fage is best known for its Split Cup, Greek yogurt with fruit or honey on the side. If you’re a fan of Fage’s Split Cups, you’ll love Total Plain Greek Yogurt. It is essentially what is on the yogurt part of the Split Cup, so you can mix it in your favorite smoothie.

In Greek, Fage means “to eat”, and you can find new and delicious recipes on Fage’s website.
There are so many recipes out there – pumpkin chai yogurt smoothie, yogurt dressing, cheesecake squares, or pancakes, to name a few.

Fage Total comes in 3 milkfat varieties – 0%, 2%, and 5%. For a fuller flavor, I opted for the 5%, but even the 0% has a surprisingly smooth taste. I initially purchased the smallest size (7oz), in case I dreaded the flavor (like most plain Greek yogurts, hehe), but soon later I’m only getting the larger containers.

The texture reminds me of thick cottage cheese.

It mixes well with all of my smoothies or yogurt parfaits. I’ve been mixing a spoonful of acai berry powder and a handful of granolas, and it’s simply delicious. And I don’t need to add honey because the flavor isn’t overly sour. Yay!

Each serving of the 5% plain Greek yogurt contains 6g of sugar and 18g of protein, with 190 calories.
