My dog has gained some weight, and we are trying to manage her weight. I have decreased the daily food ration and treats, and she is slowly but surely losing weight. I was shocked to learn how calorie-rich regular Greenies are (90kcal/treat). I searched high and low for dental treats with lower calories that also perform great, and the Weight Management Greenies are the closest ones I’ve found.
The Weight Management Greenies are not necessarily lower in calories (88kcal/treat); however, they contain L-carnitine that helps reduce storage of body fat in the blood stream.
I’ve always fed my dog a Greenie every day to keep her dental health in a good condition, and she has not yet had any dental issues, so far. I love the way Greenies clean her teeth and gum, and they definitely keep her breath from smelling foul.
The Weight Management variety still does an amazing job at cleaning my dog’s teeth and keeping her breath fresh. And she seems to love the flavor just as same.
I guess I’ll just need to keep up with my dog's diet and exercise since her dental health is as important as her weight!
