I wear light makeup. I try not to suffocate my skin with full-coverage foundation unless it’s a special occasion because I can’t stand the thick, caked-on feeling. I feel like a full coverage foundation makes me break out more often too. I’ve tried a handful of popular foundations recommended by Youtube bloggers that are supposed to give skin a natural glow. Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau Natural Perfection Foundation is my favorite.

Recently, Guerlain increased the color options to accommodate a wider range of people. Years back, I was disappointed because it was either too light or dark. But, the new 02W Light Warm was the perfect match for my 2Y06 Sephora Color IQ skin. I found the Sephora Color IQ test to be pretty accurate. I went with the recommendation, and it was a great natural match when I swatch tested on my jawline. The new shades compliment not just the colors but undertones – cool, neutral and warm – as well.

- Light consistency that absorbs into skin
The lightweight texture was the most important factor I was looking for. Guerlain promises a second-skin-like finish. It shouldn’t be called “Lingerie”; I think it should be called “nude” because I almost forgot I was wearing it! It spreads smoothly.
I applied it with a beauty blender, and it dries beautifully with a satin finish. I didn’t need to put on powder.

- Coverage without compromising
For a fluid foundation that has a satin finish, the coverage was extremely buildable. I use 2-3 drops and blend them in with a beauty blender. It usually gives the natural glow that I like, but when I need more coverage, I dab a drop with a beauty blender, concentrating on the areas that need coverage. This way, my skin still shows slight imperfections that make skin look more natural but it glows. For really stubborn blemishes, I’d rather reach for a concealer than a full-coverage foundation.

- It sets on the skin beautifully
Many foundations I’ve tried disappointed me because they didn’t last long. I’m talking about visible pores, greasy forehead, and patches of foundation here and there after hours of application. The color stayed on – didn’t turn orange or ashy like many foundations do when they oxidize –, and it stayed dry. My skin looked like its natural self, only better. When dried, the foundation has a satin finish, achieving the perfect balance between dewy and matte. I’m hesitant about purchasing a foundation with a dewy finish because it can look really greasy, and matte foundations worsen the look of my fine lines after a few hours.

The biggest downside is the price - $63 for 1 fl oz. It’s not the most expensive foundation, and it was exactly what I was looking for in terms of finish, color, and coverage, I’ll bite and will continue to buy it. If you’re looking for a satin finish with light to medium coverage, the Lingerie de Peau Foundation might be what you need.
