Halo Top Strawberry Ice Cream

I’m usually good at keeping snacks at bay. I don’t drink soda (makes my throat hurt), chips are too salty for me and gummy bears get on my teeth. Ice cream is a total exception, though. I can easily finish a pint and crave more. I have no flavor preference, either. Anything that comes in a form of ice cream, I love. But a pint of delicious Strawberry Haagen Dazs ice cream packs in whopping 960 calories and contains dangerous amounts of saturated fat and sugar. In order to enjoy ice cream with less guilt and easier on my body, I decided to snack on Halo Top.

Halo Top Creamery makes delicious ice cream that is easy on your body and health. Depending on the flavors, a pint of Halo ice cream’s calories ranges from 280 to 360.

I was craving strawberry ice cream today, and instead of picking up a pint of Haagen Dazs, I went with the Halo Top.

Compared to regular ice creams, the Halo Top’s nutrition facts look much better. It has a higher protein content (5g) and significantly lower calories. Although the 5g protein is not a significant source of protein, it is still better than other ice creams that contain little to none.

Ok, here’s the most important part.

The taste is lacking compared to Haagen Dazs or other traditional ice creams like Ben & Jerry's or Baskin Robbins. I couldn’t taste the “creamy” strawberry ice cream that I love so much about Haagen Dazs. But I know that creaminess is the culmination of fat, sugar, and higher cholesterol. It’s got a sherbet-like texture and tastes like strawberry ice cream. For the calories alone, I’d choose this in a heartbeat.

It’s a great healthy alternative to regular ice creams, and the taste doesn’t suck!
