I recently got my guest bedroom furnished and wanted to share this amazing floor lamp I got. I’ve been meaning to get the room guests ready for so long, but have been putting it off for way too long. Well, I’m expecting my cousin from California in about 2 weeks, and that means no more excuses.

I kept the room pretty simple – a queen bed, a small nightstand, a corner chair, and a floor lamp. I kept the Ikea Malm bedframe I’ve had since college. The “Vienna” pull-up table next to the bed is from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. And the white faux leather chair is from a garage sale. I kept the room budget-friendly but functional.
The floor lamp next to the chair is the recent addition that I got, and I cannot recommend it enough. I’m seriously debating about getting another one so I can put it in the living room!

All the industrial task floor lamps I saw were way over my budget. I fell in love with the Rowan Pharmacy Task Floor Lamp from Restoration Hardware, but I didn’t think it was worth $819. And then I discovered the Industrial Task Floor Lamp by Threshold at Target. Threshold is Target’s exclusive brand that offers affordable home products including, but not limited to, furniture, décor, and bedding. It was only $59, and with Target’s generous return policy, I went ahead and purchased it.

The lamp is surprisingly well-made, and it looks way more expensive than $59. The lamp comes in 2 finishes – Pewter and Brass. I got it in Pewter, and it is very true to color. It’s darker than stainless steel and matte.

I could adjust the angle of the head to direct light in the direction I wanted with a knob.

The lamp doesn’t have a diffuser, so it might be a downside for some. It wasn’t an issue for me because I knew most task lamps don’t have diffusers. As long as I don’t look up directly, I get plenty of light that isn’t too hard on my eyes.

The round base is very heavy to prevent the head from tipping over. The lamp weighs substantial – 12.72 lbs, and most of the weight is in the base. The installation was a snap. I screwed on the parts that are already connected by the cord, and I was done. The instruction is included, but I didn’t need to read it.

Granted, it is probably not as sophisticated as the lamp from Restoration Hardware, but it is a fantastic alternative. I’m pleased with how the guest room turned out, and the task lamp provides additional light in style.
