I am obsessed with my new Roomba® i7+!

I have been a loyal user of Roomba® – it’s a marriage saver if both you and your spouse work full-time – for many years now. We decided to add a new Roomba® when we moved to a larger home. Roomba® recently came up with Roomba® i7+ (7550) Wi-Fi® Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal.

This robot vacuum with automatic dirt disposal is an added feature that takes convenience to a new level.

Honestly, I don’t think I can go back to purchasing a robot without dirt disposal because it’s proven to be such a needed and convenient feature for my lifestyle. One of the known annoyances of Roombas® (or any robot vacuums in general) was the small capacity of the waste bin. The bin needed to be emptied almost every time it finished cleaning my house with 2 dogs. I set my old Roomba® on schedule, but I always had to make sure that the bin was empty, otherwise, it would stop the cleaning. So, the i7+’s automatic dirt disposal was a phenomenal feature.

Essentially, Roomba® goes back to the docking station where the dirt disposal is attached and empties its waste bin by itself. The Clean Base® Automatic Dirt Disposal holds up to 30 bins of dirt, dust, and hair, so I can forget about emptying the bin for weeks.

Ok. Then now it poses a natural question for all pet owners. Most pet owners may have noticed the distinctive “pet odor” (similar to wet dog odor) from vacuum cleaners if the bins weren’t emptied for weeks. The trapped chunks of pet hair mixed with dust and allergens quickly cause the filter to stink. This was my very initial question when I learned about the automatic dirt disposal feature. Guess what? The disposal contains a disposable dirt bag that holds dirt until it is ready to be disposed of.

Think of these disposable dirt bags as trash bags inside the dirt disposal can. The disposable bags are available for purchase here.

The i7+ boasts an impressive cleaning ability as well. According to iRobot®, the i7+ can deliver 10X the air power for improved dirt and allergen pick-up performance. Its suction power and high-efficiency filter trap 99% of cat and dog allergens that are invisible to human eyes. Despite its impressive cleaning ability, it doesn’t strike me as overly loud or noisy. It’s much quieter than my Roomba® 960, which is LOUD. I can easily carry a conversation when my i7+ is running in my living room, although I can hear it. On the other hand, with the 960, I had to yell, haha!

Like most recent iRobot® vacuums, the i7+ also comes with a wi-fi app connection and smart home support. It is compatible with both Google Home and Amazon Echo, unlike Ring or Nest. You can connect your vacuum to your smart home hub and easily command it to start cleaning.

The i7+ comes with a new iAdapt® 3.0 Navigation with a Visual Localization feature. By utilizing iRobot®’s patented iAdapt® 3.0 Navigation with vSLAM® technology, the i7+ can map the house accurately and seamlessly, without missing a spot.

You can actually see the map of your house that the i7+ creates in the iRobot® app, so you can easily track its path and cleaning history.

The all-new Imprint™ Smart Mapping is the feature that completely won my heart. As it maps the house, the i7+ learns multiple rooms of your house and zones them. By creating different “zones”, it allows a controlled and targeted cleaning. For instance, it knows your kitchen from your living room. I was so excited to try this feature as soon as I brought my new i7+ home. It takes a few cleaning cycles for the i7+ to learn your house, but once it does, you can simply command your Roomba® to clean a specific zone of your house.

“Roomba®, clean my living room”.

The old Roomba is now dedicated to cleaning our master bedroom and bathroom. Our master suite is a much smaller area than our entire home, so I don’t need to empty the waste bin as frequently as I needed to before.

If you’re on the verge of upgrading your old Roomba®, holy cow, your timing is perfect. Go and get it. If you’re thinking about getting your first robot vacuum, hey, your life is going to be so much easier.

I hope this review was helpful, and let me know in the comments if you have any questions.
