Kaytee Lava Ledge for Chinchillas

Every chinchilla owner knows how much chinchillas love to jump around their cage. In fact, it is essential to include various leaping ledges and landing zones, so our fluffy chinchillas stay happy.

I have been buying Kaytee’s Lava Ledges since I adopted my chinchillas. 

These ledges are made of chinchilla-safe lava blocks; therefore, they make excellent chew toys. The ledges are completely safe to chew, and they are dyed with pet-safe colors. They come in many colors, and most online retailers like Chewy or PetSmart send you random colors. Honestly, I don’t really care about the colors, so I don’t mind ordering them online where the price is cheaper.

My chinchillas love to sit on the ledge while they chew on it, and eventually they grind it all down. When the ledge separates from the supportive washer, it is time to replace it.

Attaching the ledge to the cage is extremely easy and straightforward. It attaches like any other leaping ledge, and the double washers on each side of the wire hold the ledge steadily. No ledge has ever come apart.

I don’t recommend equipping the cage only with the lava ledges as they are not as stable as wooden ledges and are mainly for gnawing; however, these lava ledges make great chew toys and extra ledges, in addition to existing leaping ledges that are more stable.
