K-Beauty has been positively influencing the US beauty market, and over the years, various K-Beauty-related items have become easily accessible. Cool beauty tools, facial masks, and other innovative skincare products have been making the otherwise stagnant US beauty market fun and interesting.

Konjac sponges are one of those K-beauty products that are super cool to use. Many of my Korean friends were raving about them, claiming that these plant-derived sponges are highly effective at removing makeup and dirt.

I use the konjac sponge for removing makeup and facial masks. For removing makeup, you can treat the sponge like a washcloth and use it to rinse out cleanser and makeup. The sponge is so soft and gentle that virtually causes no irritation on my sensitive skin.

But the real use and effectiveness of the konjac sponge is when I’m removing facial masks. I use a lot of wash-off type facial masks, and some of them have dense, thick consistencies that are hard to rinse off. I used to use cotton washcloths for rinsing, but they felt too harsh for my liking. Konjac sponges are SO SOFT but take off the facial masks easily. Seriously effective.

There are many konjac sponge brands out there, so it is really a matter of preference. I replace my sponges every month or so to keep it as hygienic as possible, so I buy these $5 konjac sponges from Earth Therapeutics that Ulta carries. I buy them in bulk whenever Ulta runs promotions, haha.

Don’t be alarmed to find the sponge wet when you first open the packaging. It is pre-moistened inside the packaging; however, it is recommended to store the sponge in a dry, cool area after opening the packaging.

The sponge comes with a cotton loop for easy hanging near the bathroom or sink.

Konjac sponges are great alternatives to cotton washcloths that help with natural skin turnover and gentle exfoliation.
