La Colombe Triple Draft Latte

My friend was raving about La Colombe Triple Draft Latte, but I was bummed that there wasn’t a La Colombe café location near me. Based in Philadelphia, La Colombe Coffee Roasters has café locations in Philadelphia, SoCal, New York, Washington, Boston, and Chicago.

She told me the Draft Latte cans are also available at select grocery stores, and I was excited to find them at Trader Joe’s.

I don’t usually like canned coffees because they are either too sweet or lacking in flavor. But my friend’s really picky about coffee and she was loving it, so there must be a reason, right?

There is the original Draft Latte, but I went with the Triple Draft Latte which contains 3 shots of espresso. I’d say that’s an ideal amount of caffeine I need to inject into my body every morning, lol.

For a latte, it’s low in calories (120 calories).

This latte is delicious! So soft and creamy.

I enjoyed every sip of this latte made with cold-pressed espresso and frothed milk.

It has an interesting opening, called the lip guard.

I was curious to find out what the lip guard does and whether it served any function. According to La Colombe's blog (https://blog.lacolombe.com/2017/08/22/whats-up-with-the-lip-guard/), the lip guard serves 3 purposes. To paraphrase, the lip guard is there to

  • Maximize the full frothiness of Draft Latte,
  • To keep the metallic taste to a minimum because the aluminum can leave a metallic taste when mixed with milk
  • Help people enjoy drinking cold beverages out of small openings

The lip guard didn’t bother me when I was drinking the latte straight out of the can.

There are many other flavors, including some seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice, Honeysuckle, or Peppermint Mocha (it’s my winter-time favorite, and I can't wait to try it).

I must try other flavors as well!
