Max Huber, a physicist at NASA who was attempting to repair his damaged skin from a serious accident during one of his lab experiments, created a highly moisturizing cream using fermented algae (now known as the “Miracle Broth”).
It’s been half a century since the invention of Crème de La Mer, and it hasn’t lost its popularity.
5 years ago, I bought my very first jar of Crème de La Mer.
It was still very expensive, so I started with the smallest jar available (15ml) and got hooked. I’ve been exclusively using La Mer products since.
In order to fully benefit from the healing properties of the “Miracle Broth”, you’ll need to “activate” it by melting the cream between fingers. Initially, the cream has the texture of hardened butter, but when melted, it becomes very smooth.
Soon later, I’ve discovered La Mer’s Moisturizing Soft Cream, which is a creamier version of the original Crème de La Mer.
It also comes in a heavy porcelain jar to keep the Miracle Broth fresh and activated.
My skin never feels dry even in winter.
It feels comfortable and well-hydrated.
Whenever I get acne scars, the cream facilitates the healing process and minimizes the scarring.
And a little goes a long way. I feel like I tend to use the Soft Cream much faster than the original because it spreads so easily and smoothly. Considering they both cost the same, it might be more economical to purchase the original. But in my opinion, you’re already spending quite a big chunk of money, so you should go for something that your skin really agrees with.
But the Soft Cream tends to sink into the skin faster and has a lighter finish, making it suitable for summer and humid days. You could also get both and rotate – the Soft Cream during the day, and the Original at night (for deeper repair and hydration).
Yes, it is very pricey, but nothing comes close to its moisturizing and soothing ability that makes me repurchase it over and over again.
