I’ve been forever looking for a lightweight and spacious canvas tote that I can use as a grocery bag. I know I can get reusable bags at grocery stores by the checkout stands, but they don’t wash well, in my experience. For some reason, the grocery bags always get dirty and I’m a little OCD about keeping them fresh and clean. Fresh produce goes in there, after all. Anyway, I found this Hamper Tote from the Laundress New York, and it is exactly what I’ve been looking for.
I ordered the Hamper Tote online (directly from the Laundress NY), and it was so thoughtfully packaged that I had to take a picture. The tote was folded neatly inside a box.
Although not labeled as a reusable grocery bag (it’s actually for dirty laundry, haha), it is proving to be a hardworking, spacious tote that carries my weekly grocery load. I live in a condo with an elevator, so this spacious tote has been a lifesaver. It easily holds 2 to 3 times as typical grocery bags. When the bag gets really heavy, I just hug it to the elevator and then to my unit. And using the whole upper body muscle to carry it is much, much easier than lifting paper bags with hands.
The tote is huge!
This cotton canvas tote has a coated interior to prevent any spills from soaking the tote. Even when I buy cold or frozen items, the outside of the tote stays dry. And the coated interior allows me to easily wipe it clean with disinfectants whenever I want.
The Laundress logo is stitched on the inside of the tote, and it doesn’t get in the way because it doesn’t stick out or anything.
I can collapse and fold the tote if I need to shove it inside my bag as I walk into the grocery store. I’m thinking about buying another tote to carry with me when I travel so I can keep my dirty laundry in a hotel room or a friend’s guest room. It will be a much alternative to plastic Walmart bags.
