I absolutely adore L’Occitane hand cream’s powdery scent, so I was really excited to learn about the body lotion. I don’t like floral or citrusy scents too much, and I always seem to gravitate toward powdery scents or fragrances. For your reference, my favorite perfume is Byredo’s Blanche. I feel like it captures the essence of the soapy, baby powder scent really well. Such a clean scent. L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream has been my staple hand cream for years, and it’s a bestseller for a reason.

I went into a L’Occitane store because when I checked online, there were a few body lotions that contain shea butter. The sales representative was more than helpful and told me the differences. The difference between lotion and cream is pretty straightforward. Lotions are more diluted and therefore are more liquidy. Creams, on the other hand, are more concentrated and are better suited for extremely dry skin. Creams usually have superior moisturizing properties but are harder to apply than lotions. L’Occitane has multiple body lotions and creams that contain shea butter, and the easiest way to determine how thick and moisturizing one is going to be is by looking at the shea butter content.
The lightest lotion contains 5% shea butter that goes on lightly. It has a runny texture, as well. I tested it out, but I determined that it was going to be too light for me, even in summer. The richest body cream contains 25% shea butter, and this intensely nourishing cream moisturizes skin for up to 72 hours. The Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream felt like a balm and was difficult to apply. But if you suffer from chronic dryness and cracked skin, I believe you’ll benefit from this.

I ended up buying the Shea Body Rich Lotion that contains 15% shea butter. It’s a perfect balance that my skin was needing. It goes on smoothly but quickly locks in moisture. My skin doesn’t feel greasy or sticky, and I don’t have to worry about my t-shirt sticking to my skin.

The lotion also contains calendula to soothe stressed skin, providing instant comfort. L’Occitane claims that this lotion moisturizes skin for up to 48 hours after application.
The scent is very similar to that of L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream, and it’s never overwhelming. Yes, I do have a soft spot for powdery-scented products, but I genuinely believe that it’s a widely-appealing scent.

I apply this lotion every day. This is my dream lotion – it perfectly moisturizes my skin, smells AMAZING, and my skin doesn’t feel dry or greasy until my next shower. Best body lotion, ever!
