I’ve been using Fresh’s Sugar Lip Balm for many years. I loved everything about that balm except for two things: price and heat intolerance. Each balm costs $24 plus tax, and for a person who needs her lip balm 24/7, the expense piled up. And because the balm has such a soft texture, it melts easily. I’ve tossed several half-used (some brand-new!) on hot summer days. I’ve been trying out a handful of lip balms to find a good alternative that I can safely use in summer.

L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick has quickly won over my heart, and I might permanently switch from Fresh’s Sugar Lip Balm.

The lip balm contains 10% shea butter for ultimate moisture retention, repair, and hydration. If you’re a fan of L’Occitane’s shea butter hand creams, then you are going to love this lip balm.

I liberally apply this balm in the morning, at night, and whenever my lips show any sign of dryness. And I’m good for hours. I do need to reapply after I eat or shower, but that goes for all lip products.

The balm is harder than the Sugar Lip Balm, therefore more resistant to heat. It doesn’t get mushy as easily as the Fresh lip balm. Nothing is more frustrating than a half-melted lip balm that feels like softened butter. Even though the Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick is firmer, it goes on smoothly without pulling my lips.

The price was reasonable ($10), much more economical than the Fresh lip balm. And I personally like L’Occitane’s case better. The Sugar Lip Balm has an aluminum tin case with a cap that twists open. The Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick has a plastic case and opens like regular lip balm.

If you’re looking for ways to treat chapped, dry lips and keep them smooth and moisturized, give L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick a try.
