Environmentally conscious household products have been steadily gaining popularity. Consumers wish to choose greener products because they’re easier on the environment, are cruelty-free, and are safer for children and pets. I respect such conscious consumption, and I, too, try to choose “better” alternatives to chemically harsh and cheaper products.

I’m picky when it comes to laundry detergent because the clothes, towels, and sheets come in direct contact with my family’s skin. I like the convenience of Tide Pods; however, they didn’t agree with my kids. Whenever I did laundry with Tide, their skin itched and got inflamed.

I’m sure Tide Pods work wonderfully for some, they just weren’t for us. I’ve tried many laundry detergents that claim to be environmentally friendly, harmful chemical free, and suitable for sensitive skin. Unfortunately, many detergents that use naturally driven ingredients lacked cleaning power. With Method, I found a happy medium. Although not 100% natural, the Method Laundry Detergent is animal-friendly, climate-conscious, and responsibly sourced. What’s best is that it doesn’t irritate my kids' skin!

Method Laundry Detergent comes in 3 varieties – 4x, 8x concentrated, and packs.

I usually reach for the 4x concentrated detergent because it comes with a cap, whereas the 8x detergent features a pump. I like measuring detergent with a cap because I can control the amount depending on the load size.

It comes in various fragrances – Fresh Air, Lavender + Cypress, Spring Garden, Ginger Mango, and Beach Sage. And of course, there’s an unscented one as well – Free + Clear.

The Method “Packs” are like Tide Pods – premeasured individual laundry packets. The price per load is more expensive than the 4x and 8x varieties.

The 4x bottle features slightly indented sides for easy grip and pour.

On the back of the label, you get information on the washing instruction, the amount of detergent you need per load, and a list of ingredients.

The detergent fights dirt + stains, keeps colors bright, keeps whites white, works in cold water, and is hypoallergenic.

You can also pre-treat a stubborn stain by rubbing the detergent onto the stain and waiting 5 minutes before the wash. I rigorously rub a stain with an old toothbrush, and it gets most stains out. So much better than bleach!
