Miele's Descaling Tablets are a must-have accessory if you own Miele’s built-in coffee machine. I was so excited to get an automatic coffee machine that was built-in into my newly remodeled house. My husband and I are huge coffee drinkers, and we cannot imagine starting a day without freshly brewed coffee. We used to happily own Breville Barista Express; however, it was a lot of work maintaining it. First, it was a semi-automatic coffee maker, meaning I needed to grind the beans manually. It was quite difficult to grind the beans just the way I wanted. Depending on the beans, I needed to manually adjust the grind (coarse or fine), but it was difficult to get it just right. So often, my espresso was either over-extracted or under-extracted.

Anyway, Miele’s built-in coffee machine is fully automatic, meaning I don’t need to do anything manually to get a fresh cup of espresso or coffee (brewed). But even if the machine’s automatic, it does require regular maintenance to keep the machine running smoothly and efficiently.

And Miele’s Descaling Tablet is a necessary accessory for keeping the machine at peak condition. Almost all coffee machines require regular descaling, and Miele’s coffee machine is no exception. My old Breville Barista Express also required descaling, as well.

A box of Miele’s Descaling Tablets contains 6 large tablets. They are much larger than most descaling tablets I’ve bought over the years.

Your machine will indicate when its descaling is due, and you can simply follow the instructions on the display panel.

The descaling tablet goes inside the water reservoir, and it starts to fizzle.

It does take time for the tablet to fully dissolve, but no worries. The coffee machine calculates the time for the tablet to dissolve and adds that to the total time required for descaling.
