Milk bones have been around for as long as I can remember (apparently, loved since 1908!), and most dogs go crazy for them.

However, I haven’t been buying them for a while because they weren’t properly sealed the last time I got them. I got a larger value-size box, and the cookies were dumped in a cardboard box without any protective seal and the box was not even properly taped. The cookie crumbs fell out of the box and made a mess in my car, and I was not okay with exposed treats. I don’t know if I just picked up a bad batch or not.

Anyway, I discovered that the smaller box (24 oz) is completely sealed and comes with an open tear strip, ensuring the freshness of the cookies. I’ve been baking my own dog treats lately, but I picked up a box to see how my dogs like them.

Although the cookies are not sealed in an additional inner pouch or layer, they seem relatively fresh and crunchy.

They are probably not the healthiest choice, and certainly cannot beat home-baked dog treats, but for the price, they make decent occasional treats.

I wish all Milk Bones varieties would come well sealed like this 24 oz box. Maybe I just found out about it, but I thought I’d share.
