OXO has done it again. I am so in love with this masher that I’m throwing away the Williams Sonoma potato masher that costs 3x more.

As soon as I laid my eyes on this masher at Target, I knew it was a quality item that was designed with the cooks in mind. You don’t think trivial cooking tools like a potato masher can make a difference. You should attempt to mash avocado, potatoes, and other mashable things with forks, and uncomfortable mashers. I’ve used a cheap and flimsy masher before, and the handle didn’t have any cushion – just a thin stainless steel stick. Not fun.

Anyway, the OXO masher has a seriously cushioned handle. The thickness is perfect, and it has rimmed sides that absorb shock and prevents slipping. I can mash anything firmly and accurately.

The masher is very durable, and the potato doesn’t cling to the wire head. It is broad enough to be washed by hand, in case you’re wondering. I’ve been cleaning mine in the dishwasher, and it hasn’t rusted or been damaged.

All my mashed dishes come out great, and the consistency is creamy and smooth. No lumps. I’m excited to mash other things!
