Fall is my favorite time of the year because of the upcoming holidays and family gatherings! As the weather gets chillier and days get shorter, I leave candles out throughout the house. They give out such a warm ambiance that no other light sources can provide.

For the last few years, I’ve been using flameless candles because they’re safer. I got them from Pottery Barn. When I first discovered the flameless candles, I was skeptical. What if they look fake? Well, if you look closely, there is a definite difference between the flameless and the real candles; however, I still recommend these for decorating purposes.

Flameless
Because nothing is burning with the flameless candles, no oxygen gets burned. When the space isn’t well-ventilated and the candle is lit, the air quickly becomes heavy and stuffy. Because I don’t leave my windows open all the time, stuffy air becomes an issue.

Safe
A few years back, my next-door neighbors burned their house down when they left with a candle lit. It was really bad and scary. Accidental fire from a lit candle is common, and with today’s furniture that uses lots of synthetic materials, everything goes up in flame within minutes. With the flameless candles, fire isn’t a concern. I just need to worry about replacing the batteries.

And because they’re flameless, I can incorporate them into various decorating ideas. I can surround the candle with vase fillers without worrying about them catching fire.

Cheaper than regular candles down the road
Most flameless candles are pricier than regular ones. The flameless candles, however, will last you for years. I replace batteries when the light starts to flicker, and I’m good for a few months.

Timer Setting
The flameless candles I got from Pottery Barn have a built-in timer. You can also get a separate remote control if you intend to use them outdoors (So you don’t have to step outside every time). I particularly like this feature because they light up at sunset, and I come home to a candle-lit, welcoming entryway from work.

These are such practical and safe accessories I use in colder months. The wick moves around gently to mimic the actual fire. I strongly recommend the flameless candles.
