I’ve been seeing Pura’s ad popping up on my Instagram feed, and I was wondering if these “smart fragrance” devices actually worked or not. Shelling out $39 for a device is one thing, but I need to continuously buy the fragrance refills to enjoy the lasting fragrance. I do love home fragrances, and I have a diffuser or scented candle in almost every room of my house; however, I just wasn’t sure if this wall plug device was going to work for me. The concept was definitely intriguing, so I finally gave in and bought a set of a Pura device and 2 fragrances.

Due to Covid, it took them forever to ship out the order (it felt much, much longer now I’m home quarantined, haha), but it finally arrived on my doorstep and everything’s all cool.

Pura’s smart fragrance device works just like any other wall fragrance plug with an added feature of app control. Using the free app, you can control the intensity of the fragrance, switch between fragrances, remote control, and custom schedule of fragrances. I particularly liked the idea of custom-scheduling of fragrances because I feel like it’s such a waste to run a wall plug when I’m not around. The device itself costs $39, and you can choose from various fragrance refills.

I chose 2 fragrance refills from Pura’s own line of fragrances – Volcano and Tuscan Neroli. The volcano is one of Pura’s bestselling fragrances, so I was so excited to try it out. I’ve read countless reviews on Pura and its fragrance refills, and many were recommending the Volcano scent. And I must say, they were not wrong!

Tuscan Neroli is very true to its name with a classic neroli scent. If you love neroli, you will fall in love with this scent. Very lovely and pleasant. I do think it’s more suited for colder weather than summer, though, as it feels heavier than Volcano.

The wall plug is very simple and clean looking. It plugs into any wall outlet and doesn’t look cumbersome or draw too much attention, which is exactly what I need for a wall plug!

You can register your device and fragrance refills using the QR code, and the app guides you through the process step by step.

The device allows you to plug 2 fragrance refills at a time, and you can switch between the two, using the app. I plugged both Volcano and Tuscan Neroli in, and I set the timer, so it fills the room at just the right time I want.

There is an ongoing cost, just so you know. Each refill lasts about 350 hours (15 days), so you’re looking at around $24-36 per month. The price varies depending on the brand, Pura fragrances being the cheapest (no loyalty paid to partner brands).

According to Pura, one smart device covers up to 1000 sq. ft of space. Currently, I placed my Pura device in the entryway, so I can enjoy the scent every time I come home. It’s such a pleasant experience. Much better than Bath and Body Works wall plug-ins. I may need to get another for my bedroom.
