We have tried numerous bathing sand and dust over the years, but we love the Quality Chinchilla Dust the most. Some bathing sand causes respiratory problems, which can lead to bigger and more serious health issues. Bathing sand has larger particles, making cleanup easier; however, the larger particles don’t penetrate the dense chinchilla fur as efficiently, defeating the purpose of giving chinchilla baths.
Quality Chinchilla Dust is made of pure pumice, which is a component of volcanic ash that is safe for chinchillas. Pumice doesn’t contain crystalline components that are sometimes responsible for respiratory issues, which is why we lean toward this brand.
