Lately, I’ve been focusing on the ingredients whenever I shop for new skincare products. Consumers are getting more knowledgeable and educated, so fancy packaging and celebrity advertising are simply not going to cut it anymore. I was appalled by so-called “high-end” brands’ liberal uses of awful ingredients like PEGs, paraben, or SLS. Before I knew better, I used to naively think that more expensive products were better and more effective – that’s why they were more expensive, right? Despite my effort and years of throwing money down the drain, my skin was not as supple and clear as I wanted, and I finally perused the ingredients.

If you have sensitive skin that’s prone to allergies, skin inflammation, and acne, there are 2 things you need to prioritize – one, minimize irritation by using products with the right ingredients, and two, restore the skin barrier so it doesn’t lose moisture and balance. One of the Youtubers I subscribe to breaks down the ingredients and explains what they do. And Real Barrier’s Control-T Cleansing Foam didn’t contain any warning or suspicious ingredients, so I decided to give it a try.

Real Barrier is not a typical skincare brand you can find at Sephora or Ulta, so I had to resort to Amazon. It’s a South Korean brand that is known for its clean ingredients and gentle formulas. The packaging includes an English ingredient list and description for non-Korean speakers, which I thought was very considerate.

The box comes with a safety seal to ensure freshness and potential contamination. It might not be visible in the photo because the seal is transparent, but it’s there, haha.

I double-cleanse at night to remove makeup, so I can’t comment on the makeup-removing ability of this cleanser; however, it’s amazing as a secondary cleanser and even more spectacular in the morning.

On the bottom of the box, you can find the manufactured date (July 19, 2019 for my case). I was worried that because I was ordering from a 3rd party seller on Amazon that the cleanser was old; however, I’m very satisfied that the seller sent a fresh one.

Real Barrier’s Control-T Cleansing Foam is an “acid-balanced cleanser that gently removes excess sebum and impurities while helping protect the skin barrier against environmental pollutants”. It is “formulated with the natural cleansing complex of Wheat Sprout Extract and Spirulina to help remove excess sebum and impurities from within the pores”.

The cleanser has a gel-like consistency that lathers decently. It doesn’t create super thick or rich foam like other cleansers; however, it gets my face cleaned and leaves my skin ph-balanced.

Here is a full ingredient list in case you’re wondering.

My skin and pores feel much cleaner and more comfortable.

I can see my skin clearing up.
