We try to use greener products as much as possible, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. Eco-friendly household products are readily available nowadays and are becoming more and more affordable. I have been using a plant-based, biodegradable sponge from another brand, but it left me feeling frustrated since it didn’t lather well like a good-old Scotch Brite sponge.
I was so excited to find Scotch-Brite Greener Clean Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge because it was exactly what I wanted!

I toss the sponge in the dishwasher every night to sanitize it, and it retains its shape for good 2 weeks. I haven’t used a sponge more than 2 weeks, so I can’t say how well it’s going to hold, but please don’t use it for more than that. Even if you sanitize it, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria.

Today’s greener products have gotten much better.
Although they’re slightly more expensive than dollar-store supplies, their ingredients are better and performance isn’t lacking, either.

The sponge’s scrubbing fibers are made from 50% agave plant.
You can see the coarse fibers on the scrubbing side, but it is much softer than the Heavy-Duty sponges.

Much gentler than this heavy duty but comparably effective.

Like traditional Scotch Brite dish sponges, the Greener Clean is also a dual-sided sponge that is ideal for both daily scrubbing tasks and hand washing delicate cookware.

The other side has a soft and plush sponge ideal for washing wine glasses or non-stick pans.
It is very similar to Scotch Brite’s Delicate Sponge – no roughness or coarse fibers sticking out.

And it doesn’t scratch my hand-washed delicate dinnerware and glassware.

And yes, it lathers so well!
I use a lot less dish detergent when I’m using the Greener Clean because it lathers generously and gets my dishes squeaky clean (even the greasy ones).
So glad I’ve switched to the Greener Clean.
