Simplehuman Liquid Sensor Pump Soap Dispenser

I’ve been looking for a sturdy and reliable soap dispenser for quite some time now. I usually buy hand soap in bulk (refill pouches), so a refillable soap dispenser is a must. The previous ones, however, were rather flimsy and poorly constructed. The pump easily malfunctioned, and they eventually ended up in recycling. I was hesitant to try Simplehuman’s automatic soap pump – mainly because it was too good to be true. And the fact that it was automatic concerned me. What if the pump stops charging? Is the pump going to dispense soap consistently without making a dripping mess? Bottom line, I’m so glad I took the chance to buy this, and I have finally settled for the soap dispenser that is going to last.

The dispenser boasts a sleek and modern body, finished in brushed stainless steel. It goes well with my bathroom fixtures and looks much better than most soap bottles out there.

It is a fully-automatic and rechargeable soap pump that dispenses a consistent amount of soap without clogging or dripping.

You can charge it with the USB cable that it comes with, and I find this much more reliable than batteries. Each charge lasts a long time (a few months, at least), and charging doesn’t take long. I usually charge the unit overnight (since no one’s using it), and it is ready for use!

You can turn the unit on and off by pressing the “power” button above the USB charging port.

The sensor is located underneath the nozzle, and you can control the amount of soap being dispensed by placing your hand closer or further from the nozzle. For example, if you hold your hand closer to the sensor, it will dispense a quick squirt of soap. And if you distance your hand a little further down, you will get more soap, great for extra-dirty hands.

Refilling the dispenser is easy and mess-free. The top cap can be removed completely, and it features a funnel-like opening that catches every drop of liquid soap.

The only nuisance is that the soap dispenser is completely opaque except for the bottom, so it’s difficult to tell whether the soap is running low or now. I keep a refill pouch under the sink so I can quickly refill it whenever the need arises, so it hasn’t been that annoying.

This soap dispenser is going to make a marvelous gift as well – who doesn’t wash their hands?

And a soap dispenser this modern and beautiful, anyone would want to wash hands more frequently – great for public health!
