Can I be this excited about a trash can? For the longest time ever, trash cans have been just regular containers that temporarily hold trash until they get emptied out – something that nobody wants to pay attention to, and something to be hidden out of sight.

It comes in 3 colors – white, black and grey. The grey one looks very modern and contemporary with the stainless steel accent, and it should hide any dirt or smudge better than the white.

When I first laid my eyes on the trash cans from Simplehuman, all that pre-established notion melted away. The streamlined stainless-steel body, smooth stepper, and designated slot for trash bags were everything I would want from a trash can.

There are many options available ranging in various sizes, colors, dimensions, and features. Although the sensor-operated trash cans really caught my eye, I decided to go with an old-fashioned step can.

This is the one I got from Target. I debated between a full stainless-steel body and plastic with stainless steel accent and ultimately chose the 45L plastic trash can with stainless steel step and rim.

Simplehuman has a 2-year warranty, so if the step were to malfunction within 2 years, they’ll replace you with a new one. But judging by the look of it, it’s a pretty simple mechanism that is hard to fail.

The step opens smoothly and closes silently.

The trash can includes a stainless steel liner rim that securely holds and hides the liner, aka trash bags. It is such a neat feature and the hidden trash bags make a huge difference.

It also includes a liner pocket to store extra trash bags. You can insert the trash bags from behind and pull one out from the inside of the trash can whenever you need a new liner.

You might think that it’s pretty expensive for a trash can, but considering how solidly built these trash cans are, I think you’ll get many great years out of them.
