I am so in love with the limited edition Smeg and Dolce&Gabbana collection.

The latest collaboration between Dolce&Gabbana and Smeg proves that small appliances can be a work of art. The “Sicily is My Love” collection embodies Dolce&Gabbana’s love for Italy. The collaboration began last year and released 100 hand-painted Smeg refrigerators. Following the roaring success, this year, the collaboration pays tribute to small household appliances such as toasters, citrus juicers, coffee machines, kettles, blenders, stand mixers, and slow juicers.

Smeg is well-known for its retro-modern design that features the iconic Smeg logo and pastel colors that other appliance companies don’t offer. The new illustrations reflect Dolce and Gabbana’s interpretations of Sicilian folklore.

I was given an opportunity to chat with a Smeg specialist at Williams-Sonoma, and she passionately explained how food is a core pulling force of Italians – it has the power to bring hearts and souls together. Smeg and Dolce&Gabbana’s shared respect for food was a huge inspiration and profound creativity for their collaboration and a driving force to embody that passion.

In order to make one Dolce&Gabana and Smeg appliance, the design undergoes a 7-step manual process. Wearing the silk screen printing illustration, a Smeg appliance performs its task as a functional work of art. It’s exciting that we get to enjoy a touch of Italian luxury in our own kitchen.

The appliances perform just like other Smeg appliances.
I own Smeg’s 2-slice toaster and electric kettle and am satisfied with their performances. I’ve always liked how my toasts and bagels turned out. The defrost function works very well as well, and the control knob is gradual and true to my setting.

The electric kettle boils water quickly at a push of a button.
There are not many control settings, but they get the job done solid.
These days, so many appliances come with “smart features”.
I’m all about making my life easier and utilizing smart tools; however, I don’t need my bread to be toasted at a specific temperature.
I still appreciate simpler functions from basic appliances that don’t require a manual.

The Sicily is My Love Collection makes art more approachable.
Every morning routine like brewing a cup of coffee or using a toaster becomes an interaction with a piece of Sicilian art.
