I’ve been coveting Staub cast iron pots for a long time, and when I finally splurged, I got this cute little animal knob as well. These sculptural knobs are compatible with all Staub lids (except for the mini and pumpkin cocottes), so you can customize and give your Staub cookware a new look.
Staub cocottes are so handsome and retain heat longer, making them ideal as not only cookware but serveware. I intended to use my cocotte on the tabletop as well, so I wanted the lid to showcase its beautiful animal friend. And when I’m not entertaining, the cocotte sits on my stove, so I get to enjoy looking at it.
Many would think that these animal knobs are purely for decoration purpose, to add a touch of whimsy. But I find them to be extremely functional, as well. It’s much easier to hold the animal knobs than the original Staub knobs, especially with oven mitts. I’ve tested all 4 animals, and the Rooster and Snail were more comfortable to hold than the other – Pig and Fish. And they don’t get hot as easily as the original knobs.
Replacing the existing knob with the animal accessory was easy. All you need is a Philips head screwdriver. Just unscrew the existing knob from behind, and it comes off easily.
I will always purchase an animal knob in the future if I decide to get another Staub pot.
