I love all my Staub cast iron pots.

They last forever, look gorgeous, and cook amazingly.

This beautiful Petite Oven is my latest addition, and I’m looking forward to years of cooking.

Staub cookware nowadays comes in various colors, but I always thought Staub looked the best in subdued, neutral colors like Black or Grey.

I found this beautiful “La Mer” color at Williams Sonoma and debated on getting this color.

But of course, I went with the “safer” choice, grey.

This is great for cooking rice or any slow-cooked dishes.

I’ve never thought cooking sticky rice on a stove would be possible. But the cast iron distributes heat evenly; therefore, ensuring thorough cooking. And the specially-designed lid with these small bumps keeps the moisture in. Essentially, the Staub Petite Oven cooks rice like a pressure cooker would do.

I prefer the black interior because it doesn’t show stains.

And from my experience, Staub pots perform like nonstick pots. I have a Le Creuset pot with a cream-enameled interior, and removing the brown stain has been exhausting. No wonder I only have one.

The pot is tiny but deep.

The diameter is only 16cm (6 ¼”), but it holds 1.5 qt, perfect for 3-4 cups of rice.

The knob can be switched out to Staub’s animal knobs if you wanted to.

All you have to do is unscrew the knob from the back of the lid with a Philips head screwdriver.

If you cook rice a lot at home, the Cast Iron Petite Oven is a solid, solid choice.
