Bacon is the best thing in the world but cleaning up after cooking it is definitely not.
The grease is hard to clean (gets harder once it dries and sets in), and it has this bacon smell that gets yucky and lingers. I bought this Silicone Splatter Screen from Sur La Table, and it was the best 15 bucks I’ve spent on a kitchen tool.
The screen comes in 2 colors, gray and red.

Splatter screens are nothing new, and in fact, I’ve had one in stainless steel mesh years ago.
It worked out great at first, but it was getting harder to clean the grease from the mesh.
The mesh was tightly-woven, and grease would get trapped.
I’d scrub it with a dish sponge, and eventually, it gave out and stretched.

I think silicone splatter screens are much better because they’re easier to care for, flexible, and don’t heat up much.

The silicone screen is flexible and doesn’t scratch the pans. Because I can never cook on stainless steel pans (they stick!!), I only use non-stick pans. When using the silicone screen, I don’t have to worry about the pans’ rims getting scratched.

It fits pans or pots up to 11” in diameter, so you can use it to cover anything that is smaller than the 11” in diameter.

The screen contains any unwanted grease inside the pan, and the stovetop is noticeably cleaner whenever I use the splatter screen.

It’s a must tool to have if you have a gas stove and cook a lot with oil.
