S’well’s Roamer insulated bottle is the BEAST in the insulated, reusable tumbler market. I’ve been seeing a sudden surge of reusable tumblers lately, and I resisted for so long to buy one because it seemed like the biggest hype ever. Everywhere I go, and on every social media ad, I saw a reusable tumbler advertisement from brands like Yeti, S’well, or Hydroflask.
My husband has been asking for a large, insulated tumbler for coffee, so I bit the bullet and started comparing tumblers. When I saw this ginormous 40 oz insulated chunk of stainless steel from S’well, I knew this was it.

First of all, I had to go with S’well because I could not find any tumbler that was larger than this 40 oz Roamer. Ok. S’well’s Roamer holds a lot – 40 oz or 1200ml of coffee is a lot of caffeine to consume a day. But this actually turned out to be the perfect tumbler for him. He Loves this.

I let my husband choose the color, and he originally wanted to get a simple black or navy Roamer. I thought that was fine, and we were about to check out. And when I saw this Instagram post of a S’well tumbler in a Teakwood pattern, we both knew this was it. So pretty and unique. And it looks far more organic and elegant than other colors/patterns, in my opinion.

How beautiful is this teakwood pattern?

Established in 2010 in New York, S’well is known for its various colors, including some limited-edition prints and colors. S’well has so many prints to choose from, so you’re bound to find a print/color you like no matter who you are.

S’well confidently claims that its bottles keep the cold drinks cold for up to 40 hours and hot drinks hot for up to 18 hours. I don’t know if they are really true because honestly, I didn’t wait 40 and 18 hours to test the drinks.

S’well uses triple-layered vacuum-insulated stainless steel to keep the contents hotter or colder for an extended period of time. Although I cannot personally vouch for the 40 and 18-hour claims, my husband remarked on how hot his coffee was all throughout the day, which was around 8 hours.

Although I thought it was an overpriced and hyped-up product at first, I’m quickly changing my opinion. I love cold drinks, and I practically sip on them all day in summer. And I’ve been frustrated with all the drips from my ice-cold drinks. If you keep an iced drink long enough on the desk or table, even a coaster becomes useless. I was amazed at how this tumbler didn’t have any condensation. It stayed powder dry on the exterior. Okay – this is where they sold me. I’m getting another tumbler for myself.

S’well’s signature bottle features a long neck with a small opening. And I can see how that can be a little annoying to clean, especially if you don’t have the bottle brush that S’well is trying so hard to sell as a bundle. But the Roamer has a wider mouth, and I can clean its opening with a dish sponge quite easily. The opening is still not wide enough to put my hand through, though. So I may need to get the bottle brush. We’ll see.

One thing to note about most insulated tumblers is that they are not dishwasher-safe. The heat from the dishwasher can get them overheated, damaging the insulating properties. I compared various insulating tumbler brands because having to handwash daily drinkware like a tumbler can be annoying; however, once I learned that it’s best to handwash insulating drinkware, I made peace with it.

My husband is using this daily, and he’s loving how he doesn’t have to refill his coffee every 2-3 hours. He brews a giant pot of coffee in the morning and a Roamer is all it takes for him to get this daily dose of caffeine. I must get one too!
