Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter – The REAL KIND!

There was a time when I used to think Skippy made the best peanut butter. When I was growing up, that’s what my mom bought from the grocery stores, and it’s been around for decades. When I discovered just how many chemicals and preservatives were added to a jar of Skippy peanut butter, I had to look for an alternative. Any peanut butter should really have only one ingredient – peanuts. Of course, if it is salted peanut butter, it should include salt. Everything else is unnecessary that was only added to keep the shelf life longer or create a smoother consistency.

There are a few peanut butter varieties that are made with peanuts only, but based on the price and accessibility, I choose Trader Joe’s Organic Peanut Butter.

Be wary of brands that advertise no-stir peanut butter or with natural-looking package designs. I almost fell into the hype of believing Justin’s Peanut Butter was organic, natural, and healthy. It does an amazing job at leading people on that what they’re buying is in fact good for their family. Wrong!

Trader Joe’s offers a wide arrange of nut butter, including but not limited to peanut, almond, cashew, and hazelnut butter. And its peanut butter is available in different varieties and consistency, just like most peanut butter from more commercialized brands.

My go-to peanut butter is this Valencia Organic Peanut Butter – Crunchy, No Salt. It contains generous chunks of peanuts, giving me the rich, crunchy peanut flavor every bite I take.

Note that it is normal and natural for peanut butter to separate, requiring you to stir every time. I use a spoon or a bread knife to scoop out peanut butter anyway, so stirring doesn’t bother me at all. If your peanut butter doesn’t need to be stirred, check the label because it is not natural.

If you’re looking for peanut butter without any preservatives or chemical additives, give Trader Joe’s peanut butter a try.
