If you think you’re wasting too much facial toner while using cotton rounds, read on.

Many skincare gurus and experts claim that facial toner is actually the final step of cleansing, not the first step of skincare. Therefore, they strongly recommend using cotton rounds when applying toners. You saturate a cotton round (or facial tissue) and gently wipe your face so the toner can remove any makeup residue or dirt if any remains. I go through quite a number of cotton rounds a month, and I’ve been frustrated with how much toner I was using. I used to buy cotton rounds from drugstores like CVS or Walgreens, and I ended up wasting a lot of toner because they were so absorbent. I came across Unicharm Silcot Uruuru Sponge Facial Cotton, and this absorbs virtually nothing!

Although I can’t read any of this, I know these cotton pads are awesome.

Each box contains 40 sheets; however, each sheet has a perforated center and can be separated into 2 thinner sheets. That way, the box stretches to 80 sheets.

I use the thinner sheets to apply toners and use the whole thicker, unperforated sheet to remove eye makeup. The Silcot pads work remarkably great with cleansing water, as well.

Think of it as a medium that temporarily deposits toner until you can apply it on your face. As soon as you press on the pad against your face, the toner will bounce back out, minimizing the toner waste.

One thing to note is that although they are called the “Facial Cotton Pads”, they are not made of 100% cotton. They are made of rayon, giving them a spongy feel. They are very soft and don’t irritate my skin.

Personally, I wouldn’t use the Silcot pads for removing nail polishes because the remover will ooze out of the pad and soak your finger and nails unnecessarily. But, the Silcot pads will save you expensive toners or other face cleaners.
