Extra Details:

I am considering Rimadesio or Porro for the closet system for the master closet. None of their showrooms is near me, and it's very hard to visualize how they differ in construction, materials and features. Can someone provide me some insight into their differences in terms of aesthetics, customizability, price, brand values and style?

If you’re deciding between Rimadesio and Porro for a walk-in closet, both are top-tier Italian brands known for sleek, minimalist aesthetics—but they offer different vibes and strengths.

Rimadesio leans ultra-modern and architectural. Think glass, aluminum, and precision-engineered sliding systems. It makes sense as Rimadesio is most well-known for its doors. Their closets (like the Cover Freestanding or Dress Bold) feel like curated spaces—refined, airy, and seamlessly integrated. Their signature? An almost gallery-like elegance with highly customizable panels, internal lighting, and sustainability-focused materials. If you’re into clean lines, luxe innovation, and that sophisticated European quiet luxury, Rimadesio is the statement-maker.

Porro, on the other hand, blends warmth with contemporary design. Their Storage system is versatile and beautifully finished in woods, matte lacquers, and metals. Porro gives a cozier, design-forward vibe—still minimalist, but with more material variety and an emphasis on craftsmanship and tactility.

My take: If you’re prioritizing visual impact, modernity, and technical finesse, go with Rimadesio. It’s more than a closet—it’s architectural furniture that elevates the entire room. Porro is still an excellent choice, but Rimadesio edges ahead if your style leans toward sleek and forward-thinking.

Both Rimadesio and Porro are exceptional Italian brands for custom high-end closets, and the “better” option really depends on your style priorities and functional needs.

Rimadesio leans more towards ultra-modern and minimal. It's known for glass, aluminum, and lacquered finishes. It features signature sleek sliding doors (like the Velaria or Graphis Plus) with seamless integration. One thing I can say about Rimadesio is that it is very architectural — more like a design statement than just storage.

Porro represents warm modern, with an emphasis on beautiful wood craftsmanship. It offers rich, luxurious veneers and matte finishes. Their Storage system is versatile but leans cozier and more tactile than Rimadesio.

Regarding customization and functionality, Rimadesio is almost surgical in precision — ideal for integrated lighting, hidden drawers, and minimalist vibes. It's also great for full-height, wall-to-wall installations with a strong architectural presence.

Porro, on the other hand, is highly modular and flexible — their systems can adapt to both open wardrobes and walk-ins with custom islands, mirrors, etc. I'll point out Porro has amazing drawer organizers, accessories, and internal configuration.

Simply put, if you want a closet that feels like a luxury fashion showroom – go with Rimadesio. If you want a closet that feels like a warm, elevated living space – go with Porro.

My take? If you’re designing for a space with lots of natural light and clean lines, Rimadesio is a dream. If your closet is part of a luxurious master suite with cozy tones, Porro blends beautifully with that vibe.
