I'm looking for a high-quality, quiet, built-in dishwasher that cleans extremely well and will last for years. I've narrowed it down to Miele and Bosch, two of the most trusted premium brands — but I'm unsure which one best fits my priorities.
If your #1 priorities are longevity + quiet + consistently excellent cleaning, Miele is the brand I’d bet on for a “buy once, cry once” built-in dishwasher. They’re engineered to feel more like an appliance investment than a replace-in-7-years item.
Miele is usually more expensive up front, and repairs can be pricier depending on the area/service availability. But from my experience with its dishwasher, it didn't need any servicing, so I wouldn't personally consider it as a con.

I like my Bosch dishwasher mainly because it just quietly, reliably does its job without drama. We run it almost every night, and the first thing you notice is how insanely quiet it is. Like, I’ve fully opened it mid-cycle thinking it wasn’t on. If you have an open kitchen or run it after the kids are asleep, this alone is a huge win.
Performance-wise, it’s been rock solid. Dishes come out actually clean, even when I’ve been lazy and didn’t pre-rinse (sauces, rice, dried-on stuff—no issues). The third rack is way more useful than I thought too. I throw utensils, lids, baby bottle parts, random small things up there and it frees up so much space below.
Another underrated thing: it doesn’t destroy your dishes. No cloudy glasses, no warped plastics, no weird residue. I was paranoid about this before, especially with nicer glassware, but Bosch has been super gentle while still cleaning well.
