Extra Details:

We just moved to Minnesota, and it’s way colder than anything my Italian Greyhound is used to! My IG is tiny, short-coated, and definitely not built for harsh winters. I want to find the best cozy winter gear and home products that’ll actually keep her warm and comfortable — not just cute. Think functional warmth for walks, indoor snuggles, and everything in between.

The best investment we made for winter was a heated pet pad — ours is a low-watt, chew-safe one with two heat settings. We put it in her favorite bed spot and now even on those -10°F mornings she hops right onto it and curls up instead of shivering on the cold floor.

If your floors are freezing and your girl loves snuggling, a heated pad is going to make a huge difference. Just make sure you get one sized for small dogs and with a low temp setting — Italian Greyhounds (or dogs in general) don’t need sauna heat, just cozy warmth.

If you live somewhere truly cold, skip cute knits and just get Hurtta’s Extreme Warmer. Feels very “technical outdoor gear" - and it blocks wind far better than fleece.

It’s basically a ski jacket for dogs. Windproof + insulated + belly coverage + high neck. My short-haired dog stopped shivering on walks once we switched because it covers chest and thighs, where they lose heat the most.
